I'M

Josh AWeston

ART DIRECTOR ///
/// UX/UI DESIGNER

I am an energetic, passionate and creative person… okay, that was a bit basic. I love to design and make things that work for the people who use them. While I find the modern trend in algorithm design to be quite efficient and user friendly it has a tendency to become white noise. I like to combine my traditional art skills with modern design trends to re-incorporate the brand back into their designs and help separate them from the pack.

WESTON CREATIVES

Contract Creative Services
I started out just taking some small creative projects as supplementary income. Over time it grew into something more sustainable. Since 2014 I have contracted with a handful of agencies handling creative overflow, UX strategies and branding projects. I've had the pleasure of working with Weber Shandwick, Delucchi+, IMRE, TBA Global, Freeman XP, Webbmason Marketing, Ally Bank, Lippe Taylor and Noble Mouse.

2016-2017

LEVELWING

Sr. UX Designer

This was an 18 month contract where I led the creative team from a UX standpoint. I handled several large accounts for the agency including the Town of Mount Pleasant, Frisch's Big Boy and Seacoast Church as well as some smaller projects like ATLATL Software and Jiffy Lube.

2015-2016

MARKETING ZEN

Interim Creative Director

I acted as an interim Creative Director while the company was going through a transitional period in their creative staffing. I managed a small team of remote designers and serviced clients and supported the new business team.

2010-2014

BFG COMMUNICATIONS

SR. Interactive Director

I was brought into the agency to help increase the quality and consistency of the interactive department. Our clients were big, RJ Reynolds (Camel Tobacco and Natural American Spirit), South Carolina Tourism and Lance Crackers, to name a few.  I managed a team of 10-14 designers and art directors. I worked for them in a remote capacity from 2012 on.

2014-2016

APERIA SOLUTIONS

Creative Consultant | UX/UI Design

I was responsible for fixing their very flawed HIPAA compliance software. I assembled a remote team of contractors to re-imagine their concept with proper UX principles. There were many internal apps that contributed to an overall risk factor algorithm that made it a very challenging build. I also directed the re-brand of the product (web app) and the initial marketing site.

2008-2010

MS&L WORLDWIDE

Creative Director

In the 3 years I worked in this PR agency I went from an Art Director to a Creative Director. For just over a year I managed a creative team of 5 people. We serviced General Motors, P&G, Saturn, TurboTax and a variety of pharmaceutical brands.

2006-2008

SPARTAN CHASSIS

Art Director

I worked as a designer/art director on a small internal marketing team for a very large vehicle manufacturing company. We built custom fire engines, military vehicles and RVs. I pushed the limits of design in all of those industries and soon found that other companies were trying to adopt my bold, hand-made design style.
